This week in Class 1 we have been learning how to share quantities and objects. We already know how to half an amount, and we know that this means splitting evenly into two groups, so we used this knowledge to help us share into groups of 3, 4, and even 5.

In phonics our focus sounds this week were ‘igh’ and ‘ure’. Here are some of us playing ‘igh’ bingo, drawing pictures to represent ‘igh’ words, and writing ‘igh’ words in glitter.
On Wednesday it was Purple Day!
We all came into school dressed in something purple and donated £1 to the Kidsafe charity. We talked about lots of ways we can keep ourselves safe, including on the road, at the beach, in the sun, and online. We had lots of fun in the process!
The school council worked together to compose a letter to Mrs Luke to thank her for coming to visit our school and to ask her whether it would be possible to hold an ‘American’ themed lunch in the dinner hall on 4th July. We are excited to read her response!
Class 6 have had a great time this week making Easter baskets and cakes.
In maths today we have been creating a robot double the size of Mrs Winter’s robot. We had lots of fun creating a big brother robot!
In class 4 we have been creating our very own non-fiction book, all about keeping healthy.
We had lots of steps to follow before our book was complete and put in the school library.
Our book includes: 4 chapters (healthy foods, water intake, exercise and hygiene), a contents page, page numbers, labels, helpful illustrations and a eye catching front cover page.
We decided to name our book: Healthy!
We can’t wait for the school to enjoy our book and learn lots of new and interesting facts about being healthy!
Take a look at some photographs of the creation/book making process:

In class 6 this week we have been learning to name and describe 2D and 3D shapes. We have had a challenge to make as many polygons as possible in 10 minutes.
In Class One this week we have been preparing for Christmas by making and writing cards, writing letters to Santa and learning how to wrap presents.
We had a very special little visitor yesterday. Mrs Thompson came to school with her new little baby girl!
We had fun investigating which material is most suitable to make an airplane from. We made our predictions, then tested each one to see which was the best.
