Parents as Partners

Some of our parents have been enjoying the Early Words Together programme with their children. They have read lots of stories and joined in lots of fun activities to help to encourage their children to listen and develop their communication.

Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You See?

Another busy week in Nursery!

This week the 2 year old children have been learning all about Polar Bears. They found out that they lived in igloos, and even tried to make their own.

The 30 hour children have been designing and making clay models

We also had some parents in for the ‘Henry Programme’. They were all having lots of fun by the sounds of laughing we could hear in the classroom.

They also did lots of work too!

What the Ladybird Heard

The children have been working hard this week to make the scene from the story What the Ladybird Heard. They have made the farm and all of the animals that are there. They have also been trying hard to make maps just like Lanky Len and Hefty Hugh.

Look who came to visit!

The 30 hour children have been very excited this week as they wanted to make something to scare me. I have been trying to peek all week but they didn’t want me to see.

What do you think it could be?

It’s a DINOSAUR!!!!

Bears Bears Bears

The 2 year old children have been learning the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

They have made the bears, learning all about sizes, decorated the Three Bears cottage and been practicing their mark making.

The 3 and 4 year old children have been learning the story We’re Going On a Bear Hunt. They have painted pictures, practiced writing and retold the story using sensory bottles and instruments.

Some of our parents have been involved with Early Words Together with their child. This programme helps parents to build confidence with helping their child’s early language development. They all had lots of fun this week singing Nursery Rhymes and making shakers to use.

Easter Fun

The children have had another busy week learning all about Easter. They have made Easter cards, completed repeating pattern games, painted patterns on eggs plus lots more.

They decorated some fantastic eggs for a competition in Nursery and worked very hard with their parents at home to make some amazing bonnets for another competition.

Transport and what you might find in the garden

The 2 year olds have been making train shape pictures, sorting transport into categories of land, sea and air, and drawing and using their plans to  make different types of transport models.

Some of the older children have been finding out about what they find underground and in the garden. They have planted seeds and made their own mini-beasts.

World Book Day

This week we have enjoyed lots of circus themed activities for World Book Day. On Thursday we all dressed up and joined in with circus themed activities such as tightrope walking, hoopla and strongman.

Space rockets and other types of transport

The 2 year old children have been busy learning all about different types of transport. They have made cars to travel in. Used cars to make tracks. Drawn their own pictures of transport.

The 30 hour children have been learning about what is underground. They have been digging in the garden to see what they could find. They found lots of worms, and even some flowers that had started to grow. So they looked at the roots and decided that they would like to make some flowers of their own.

The children in the main room are learning all about Space. We have our own space station in the classroom with a rocket!

We have been very busy making planets this week to put in the Space area. It took us a very long time.

We even made our own alien pictures!
