Nursery

Life-cycles, aeroplanes and artisits

11th July 2025Angela Ruffles

The children have all had a busy fun filled week within Nursery. The 2 year old children have been learning all about the life-cycle of a hen. They have explored how to keep an egg safe by trying to stop it falling off the wall like Humpty Dumpty. They have investigated raw and cooked eggs and even made their own egg and cress sandwiches using the cress they grew themselves last week!

Just checking that they got the everything in the correct order.

(When checking the cooked and raw eggs)

“It’s not the same” -Junior

“It’s got a yellow ball in the middle” – Hetti

They even helped to clean up their mess!

The 30 hour children have managed to make their own aeroplanes and test them in the garden.

Some of the other children have been exploring how to make portraits of their friends.

I can see the likeness. ‍♀️

Nursery

Gardening and tractors

27th June 2025Angela Ruffles

The 2 year old children have been exploring seeds and flowers. They have drawn observational pictures of flowers, painted with real flowers and planted some seeds.

The older children have been thinking about different types of transport and this week have made pictures of tractors using lolly sticks.

Nursery

Bears in the Garden

16th May 2025Angela Ruffles

The 2 year old children have been learning all bout bears. They have been finding out all about ‘habitats’ (where they live), and even tried to make homes from ice and sugar cubes. They found out what they eat and have been using positional language to describe where the bear is.

The older children have been doing lots of work in the garden, planting, counting and sorting seeds and measuring how tall their flowers were.

Nursery

Bears, Plants and VE Day

9th May 2025Angela Ruffles

The 2 year old children have been reading about Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They have enjoyed making their own bears by scrunching paper, sorting bears into size order, making bear masks and mark making in messy porridge.

The 30 hour children have been drawing flowers and putting labels on to name the different parts.

We have all been learning about VE Day and about the soldiers from a very long time ago.

‘We gotta wave flags coz it flag day’ – Finn

‘The war was there for ages’ ‘Dad telled us’ -Daniel

Nursery

Fire fighters, bears and flowers

2nd May 2025Angela Ruffles

It’s been all go in Nursery this week. We have been learning about fire fighters and how they help us in the main room. We found out that they don’t just put fires out!

We have enjoyed painting a fire fighter to go onto our display, and  talking about the uniforms that they wear and why they need them.

.

The 2 year old children have been learning all about Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They have been discussing what it means to be ‘small’, ‘medium’ and ‘big’ and talking about feelings.

Some of the children even pretended to be Goldilocks, eating Daddy Bears porridge and falling asleep in one of the beds!

The 30 hour children are learning all about planting and growing. They have been making their own flowers to go into their garden centre.

Nursery

Learning all about Easter

4th April 2025Angela Ruffles

The children have been learning the Easter story this week and beginning to find out about why we have a cross on the top of a hot cross bun. Some of us even enjoyed tasting the buns.

We have also been making lots of Easter crafts to bring home.

Nursery

Happy Mother’s Day

28th March 2025Angela Ruffles

We have had a very busy week trying to make cards for our very special grown ups without them finding out.

We talked about all of the things that our Mams, Grandmas, Sisters and Aunties do for us and why we love them.

Nursery

Red Nose Day

21st March 2025Angela Ruffles

We have had lots of fun celebrating Red Nose Day

We all came to Nursery wearing ‘Something that made us happy’

Nursery

Transport and Musical instruments

14th March 2025Angela Ruffles

The 2 year old children have been making junk models of their favourite types of transport. They have tried very hard with their cutting.

The 30 hour children have been making their own musical instruments. We have lots of guitars, a couple of tambourines and a couple of drums.

Hopefully we will have our own band in the Nursery.

Nursery

Pancake Day and World Book Day

7th March 2025Angela Ruffles

The children have had a busy fun filled week. On Tuesday they had to work hard when they had to count, measure and talk about the changes they noticed when making pancakes. They even got to enjoy tasting them.

We also had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day. The children all dressed up as a job they wanted to do in the future when they were bigger. We had future engineers, palaeontologists, police officers, fire fighters, hairdressers, doctors, nurses, chefs, builders and even astronauts. The children loved explaining what the different jobs were and what the people did.

I’m going to be an engineer like my dad, they build houses – Finn

I’m going to be a palaeontologist, coz they look after dinosaurs and animals – Cody

I gonna be a fireman coz they squirt water and get cats out of trees – Max
