In Class 4 we have loved making windmills as part of our Design Technology unit of work. We have learnt and applied different skills such as puncturing holes and joining different materials. We started with a stable base, then made the sails by making evenly spaced cuts. We joined our components together and they now ready for a windy day.
We have been learning about the seasons and the awesome Autumn we are in now. We have had fun exploring the different colour leaves and creating some wonderful art work for our assembly and displays.
This week we have been counting forwards, backwards and then finding one more and one less. They have been fantastic with their counting skills.
Our first full week in Class 4 we have read The Colour Monster. The Monster is confused and has many mixed feelings. The monster then gets help from a girl to sort his feelings into jars. We have done some amazing work labelling emotions and describing Anger.
Class 4 had a fantastic day on our trip to Gibside!
We spent the morning looking for minibeasts! We used a classification sheet to help us identify what we found️
We then spent the afternoon creating art using nature! We created our own artist palette using natural items before using mud as paint to create our own natural paintings️
What a fantastic afternoon for our Year 1 sports day!
We are so proud of the children for the hard work and resilience they demonstrated throughout every single race! It was so lovely to hear them cheering each other on!
And a huge thank you to all the grown ups for coming along to watch and cheer on the children and of course, getting involved in our adults race!!
As part of our transport topic, we have been exploring Peter Thorpe’s ‘Space Art’. We explored his different paintings of rockets and discussed the colours he used and why we thought he had chosen them. We then created our own rocket paintings
This week Year 1 spent an afternoon with their adults, exploring some wonderful books and sharing some of their favourite stories!!✨
