The children loved having their parents in Nursery to enjoy lots of fun art and craft activities.

In Nursery this week we have enjoyed spending time talking about who we love and why. The children have enjoyed lots of valentine activities and even made some lovely gifts to take home.

The children have been exploring animals that live in the Arctic. We have been learning that penguins and polar bears do not live in the same place, but they both live where it is very icy.

The children have enjoyed drawing and painting Jack Frost pictures with cold colours and making a home for Ginger the cat to help to keep her warm.

The 2 year old children have enjoyed learning all about fish this week. They know that fish don’t have legs to walk and that they have fins to help them swim. They also need to live in water and that they are really clever and can breath in the water.

They have been able to remember that fish can live in (our word of the week) ‘aquariums’, bowls, the sea, a lake, a river and a pond.

They have made their own fish bowls this week.

The 30 hour children have enjoyed spending time learning about rain this week, jumping in puddles and trying to find different materials to help to keep them dry.

The 2 year old children have been reading ‘Dirty Dog’ and have had tasty, messy fun making their dogs really dirty than giving them a bath to make them lovely and clean again.

The children in the main room have been reading ‘Dear Zoo’. They have made cages for the zoo animals and wrote letters to the zoo asking them to send a pet.

The children in the 30 hour room are learning about different types of weather. They have had a fantastic time this week spending time in the snow (when it was here), exploring the different footprints that they found outside and trying to guess who or what could have made them. They have made a TV weather station in their room and take turns with presenting the weather to their friends.

The children have made weather and snowmen pictures and have enjoyed making a snowman outside, going out every day to see if he is still there or if he is melting.

The 2 year old children are learning all about different Pets and where they live. They have made a vets surgery and are helping to look after the poorly animals. They have made their own paper plate animals too.

The children in the main room are learning all about animals that live in the jungle. We have made snakes by cutting and printing patterns with duplo, we have made paper plate lions, we have made junk model animals and we have been painting observational pictures of animals.

Santa came to visit Nursery to see if we had been good. We sang him some songs, and he especially liked ‘When Santa Got Stuck Up The Chimney’

When it was time for Santa to leave to go on his visits to all of the other children he asked us to listen to hear his bells and to watch to see the reindeer flying above the houses. We weren’t allowed to blink though as we would miss him. The children all said they saw him, but I must have blinked again as I didn’t see the reindeer.

The children enjoyed showing their grown ups all of the fun we have in Nursery. They made hand-print wreaths, melting snowmen biscuits, Santa door hangers, straw Christmas trees, and glittery, sparkly stars. The adults had lots of messy fun and I think the children did too.

The children are working as busy as Santa’s Elves in Nursery. They are making the Nursery look fantastic and also making lots of lovely things to bring home too.
