An amazing assembly this morning performing The Paper Bag Princess.
Fantastic retelling of the story, beautiful clear voice and super brave!
Well done Class 2 I am super proud 🌟
We have absolutely loved our pirates topic and now know so many facts about pirates.
Class 2 have been amazing at understanding how different pirates lives are to ours and discussing similarities and differences.
This topic has really motivated the children and I have seen a huge difference in their language and vocabulary. They can now extend their sentences when speaking, connecting their ideas and using present and past tenses.

This week we have been reading Pirates Love Underpants. We loved finding out the meaning of all the new vocabulary within the story!
After reading the story we decided we also wanted to attend a treasure hunt.
We thought of our own treasure and we had so many amazing ideas
🏴☠️ Golden dinosaurs
🏴☠️ Golden football boots
🏴☠️ Rainbow unicorn
🏴☠️ Golden Jolly Roger
and so many more!
We decided to invite Captain Blackbeard along so we wrote him an invitation. On Friday we received a video from Captain Blackbeard thanking us for the invites but unfortunately he was stuck on Underpants Island. He promised us, if we made him treasure maps, he’d send a shipmate along to us. So we got straight at it and guess what… he did send a shipmate!!
Luckily, earlier in the week we had been looking at various maps and discussing what a map is. We also made maps of our own houses, so we were all clued up on maps ready for the pirates!
We have been using the scales to identify heavy and light.
We used random items the children collected in the classroom, made our own predictions and then weighed them on the scales.
We then looked at various numbers and discussed if we thought that amount of items would weigh more or less in comparison to the other number. The children were amazing at identifying the greater and smaller numbers. We then counted out the correct amount of items (or numicon) and weighed them to see if we were right.
Amazing predictions and weighing 🌟

We have loved celebrating and learning all about the King’s Coronation this week 👑🤴
This week someone came into our classroom, trashed it and stole our pirate ship! They also left a letter with some clues. We had to read the clues in order to find our pirate ship!
We then created our own wanted posters to help the police find the evil Pirate Blackbeard.

This half term our new topic is pirates! The children have come up with everything they would like to know about pirates and we are going to start finding out all of the facts.
As the week went out, we watched some videos on pirates and did some research. Look at the amazing facts we found out.
We have had so much fun this week with lots of Easter/Spring activities.

Our caterpillars have made their cocoons ready to become butterflies!!
