What’s in the box?

Today we came back to our classroom to find a very mysterious box in our classroom 😮

We decided it must be something alive because it doesn’t like loud noises and doesn’t want to be touched!

But what could it be?

We have had some incredible ideas such as crocodile, spider, unicorn, baby, cat, dragon, polar bear and so many more!!

We then created our own posters to warn others of what we think is in the box!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Christmas Story Night! We had a gorgeous night returning to school in our pyjamas, sipping hot chocolate, and enjoying a lovely Christmas story together. The evening was filled with fun activities that got everyone into the festive spirit! 🎄

After reading Jack Frost we couldn’t believe the letter we received from him! It’s been soooo cold at school we just knew he must have been here! And it turns out he was here, and he lost his hands

We set off on a search to find Jack’s hands!

Once we found them we used some fantastic vocabulary to describe them! Ask your child if they can use some of these words to describe them to you!

We then discussed how we were going to save his hands, Class 2 came up within amazing ideas
❄️ Keep them away from fire
❄️ Keep them away from a hair dryer
❄️ Don’t put them in the sun
❄️ Put them in some freezing cold water
❄️ Send them to the arctic
❄️ Put them in the freezer

Anti Bullying Week

ANTI-BULLYING WEEK

This week we have focused on the power of our hands and how they can make a positive impact on others. We talked about how our hands can be used in kind or unkind ways, and we discussed the feelings these actions can create. The children reflected on how they want to use their hands to make others feel happy, safe, and loved. ❤️

️We created our own “powerful hands,” drawing pictures of the ways we will use kind hands to be gentle, caring, and helpful to others.

❤️Class 2 came up with amazing ideas and I’m sure we will see lots of kind, gentle hands, spreading kindness both in and out of school.

Bonfire Night ✨

This week, Class 2 has been exploring Bonfire night. We’ve been learning about the events that took place over 400 years ago and the story of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot.

We have

  • Read the story of the Gunpowder Plot, discovering who Guy Fawkes was and what he plotted.

  • Discussed the significance of Bonfire Night, including why we celebrate it today.

  • Focused on safety tips for celebrating Bonfire Night safely, including the importance of staying a safe distance from fireworks and bonfires.

We also introduced key vocabulary to help us understand the history and traditions surrounding this event, such as:

  • Past

  • Bonfire

  • A long, long time ago

Leaf Man

15th October 2025A Aldcroft

This week in Reception, we read Leaf Man, where we followed the journey of a leaf character through some very imaginative autumn scenes. We discussed the different leaf creatures, thinking about what might happen to Leaf Man. The children really loved talking about the changes in nature during autumn—how leaves fall, the cooler weather, and the changes in the natural world around

We then went outside for an autumn hunt where we searched for fallen leaves, twigs, and other autumn items. Class 2 used some wonderful vocabulary, such as ‘crunchy,’ ‘chilly,’ and ‘colourful,’ to describe their items.

Afterwards, we got created our own leaf creatures. The children came up with unique and imaginative stories to go along with their creatures. It was a lovely way to connect nature, creativity, and language skills in a fun way!
