In PE this week, class 3 were learning how to cooperate and work as a team. In pairs, we used our bodies to move around the hall like different animals, making sure we listened to our partners ideas and helped each other. We tried being penguins, elephants, mice, kangaroos and giraffes. Then we worked together to play some fun team games.
Class 3 did brilliantly in their ‘Chinese New Year’ assembly today.
They have enjoyed learning all about the Chinese Zodiac story, looking at different artefacts and using instruments to re-create Chinese music.
Well done for working so hard to learn your lines for the assembly! Miss Holtham is very proud.
Class 3 have been looking at non-fiction texts in literacy this week. They sorted a range of books based on whether they were ‘fiction’ or ‘non-fiction’, giving reasons for their answers.
The children also worked in groups to find as many facts as they could from different non-fiction books, and presented the information they found to the rest of the class.
In art this week, class 3 have had fun learning how to weave!
Next week we are going to make farmyard animal pictures using the weaving technique. The pictures will be displayed in our school corridor.
Class 3 and 4 worked together this week to discuss the importance of washing their hands!
Together they used the 6 Thinking Hats to have a debate:
The Yellow hat was for the good points
The Black hat was for the bad points
The Red hat was for feelings
The Green hat was for ideas
The White hat was for the facts
Finally the Blue hat for next steps.
We all had a lot of fun during our interesting debate. The outcome was that hand washing is very very important and even though it might take a long time and can sometimes be a bit boring it just MUST BE DONE!

Class 3 have enjoyed playing lots of different phonics games and activities this week.
Class 3 had a visit from a very special person today – Santa! He gave each of us a lovely present and wished us a merry Christmas.
Class 3 had so much fun performing their Christmas production of ‘The Grumpy Sheep’. They worked so hard to learn their lines and the singing and acting was fantastic! The children also enjoyed dancing, playing games and eating yummy party food at their Christmas party.
The children in class 3 had lots of fun making healthy winter soup this week. They chopped carrots, potatoes, onions and turnip and put it into a soup maker. They then tasted their yummy soup with bread. It was lovely!
Class 3 have been learning all about money this week. We practised buying some items in a fruit shop and chose coins to make different amounts.
