Class 6 had a visitor named Cheryl from the NSPCC who told us all about the Speak Out, Stay Safe campaign and showed us ‘Buddy’ the mascot. Cheryl talked about the ways a child can be hurt by others, that it is never a child’s fault if they are hurt, and that all children have the right to be kept safe and know how to get help. The children listened beautifully during carpet time then made some Buddy puppets and bookmarks to take home.
The children could all identify safe adults that they would tell if they were being hurt or made to feel upset or worried by someone. They said they would tell a parent, older siblings who could help, a grandparent or another trusted family member, Miss Holtham, Miss Nisbet or Mrs Askwith. The children also learnt about the Childline website and phone number. Well done, Class 6!
