This week, class 4 have been reading the story ‘Handa’s Suprise’ by Eileen Brown. In the story, Handa takes a basket of fruit to her friend, Akeyo. This week we got to try some of the fruits in Handa’s basket! We tried;
banana
mango
pineapple
orange
tangerines
avocado
and even passion fruit!! We then used adjectives to describe what the fruits looked like, smelt like and how they tasted. The children were amazing and tried all the different fruits – although some were definitely more popular than others!!
This week after reading ‘The Dinosaur that Pooped the Past’ we were absolutely mortified to discover a dinosaur had been into our garden and pooed in it!!!!!!
We then found MORE poo in our classroom!!!! We’re a bit worried the dinosaurs in our Jurassic World role play are leaving poos everywhere while we aren’t here!
But look at the incredible writing that came from it!

This week we came back from the holidays to find a mysterious box in our classroom with danger signs and a warning note attached!
We have no idea how it got there however the children had some amazing ideas of what might be in the box! We know it’s alive as the warning note stated it eats as well as breathes!
A spider with sharp teeth (Jackson)
A giant whale (Kai)
A pretty butterfly (Renae)
A crocodile (Lewi)
A fluffy cat (Leo)
A big, poisonous snake (George)
After lots of discussion and some amazing language used we decided to create a warning poster to warn the rest of the school about the dangerous creature we could potentially have in our classroom!

On Tuesday, Year 1 performed their Christmas show for their adults. We are so proud of how hard the children worked to learn their lines, as well as the words to all the songs they had to sing – they were absolutely AMAZING! They delivered their lines clearly and sang so beautifully.
Well done Year 1!!
This week, we had Laura from the Waste and Recycling Centre come into school to talk to us about the importance of recycling and to help us understand what can and can’t be recycled. We then used recycled materials to create our own Christmas baubles♻️
We were so proud of our baubles – we can’t wait to display them on our Christmas trees!!
We are so proud of our Year 2 children for their fantastic speaking, singing and dancing in our Christmas performance of the Hoity Toity Angel. They really are superstars!
In our History lessons we have been learning all about Florence Nightingale. Florence was a nurse who cared for soldiers during the Crimean war – she changed the way patients were treated, improved conditions of the hospitals, and became the founder of modern nursing.
Class 6 were absolutely amazed to see Florence appear in our school! She must have travelled here from the past! She was a very kind lady and told us all about her life and her experiences as a nurse in the 1800s. The children asked her lots of brilliant questions and learnt lots of facts about her. They then wrote some fantastic recounts of her visit.
Last Friday, year 1 took part in a mini tennis festival at Temple Park. We learned lots of new tennis skills, like;
How to serve
Backhand hit
Forehand hit
We had lots of fun and enjoyed putting our new skills into practice with a game of floor tennis!
