Everyone in Class 4 had a brilliant time at the Athletics Festival at Temple Park Centre. They took part in a range of athletics activities and had lots of fun!
On World Book Day, the children in Class 4 had a visit from Jolene and Jason from The Word in South Shields. They told us all about the library at The Word and read us two amazing books: The Knight who wouldn’t Fight and The Cook and the King.
We really enjoyed dressing up as Kings and Queens for the day and did a brilliant class assembly all about World Book Day where we re-enacted the story The Princess and the Wizard!
Class 4 designed and made some pizzas using a range of toppings in their Design Technology lesson this week. They were very tasty!
Class 4 have had fun using dictionaries this week. They chose a range of word cards and used their knowledge of the alphabet to find the given words in a dictionary. They then wrote down the definition of each word.
In our literacy lessons we have been working together to create a class non-fiction book all about healthy living. We designed a front cover for our book, and included lots of brilliant facts about things like healthy eating, exercise, drinking water and keeping clean.
We even included a contents page and a glossary!
We are really enjoying finding out about Barnaby Bear’s travels around the world. 🐻 Each week we find out about a different country that he has visited.
This week, Barnaby visited Spain! We wrote lots of amazing facts about Spain in our books.
Class 4 had a fantastic time on their trip to St Hilda’s Church this week. They enjoyed looking around the church and finding out about all of the special church artefacts like the font, pulpit, lectern, altar and pews. They thought the stained glass windows were beautiful!
We have been learning about a range of flags from around the world as part of our ‘Barnaby’s Travels’ topic.
We designed and created our own flags in our DT lesson.
This week we have been learning about the features of non-fiction texts. We identified the main differences between fiction and non-fiction texts, then we cut out pictures of a range of book covers and sorted them into the correct columns.
Class 4 had a very special visit from Santa! He gave everyone a lovely present. 🎅🏻
