Class 4 have been learning about bullying and what to do if they think they are being bullied or they see someone else being bullied. Their ‘Anti-Bullying Week’ class assembly was based on the story of Elmer and how we should always celebrate each other’s differences.
We are all different but we are all EQUAL!

We observed a range of flowers in our art lesson and discussed what we could see. We then drew the flowers, making sure to add lots of detail.
Class 4 created magic potions for Halloween this week.They used bossy verbs such as ‘mix’, ‘pour’ and ‘stir’, as well as interesting adjectives to describe the ingredients that they wanted to add to their cauldrons. The children came up with lots of brilliant ideas like disgusting dragon brains, squishy round eyeballs, and pink wriggly rats tails!
This week, we recapped reading and saying colours in french. We worked in groups to read the french words and match them to the corresponding colours.
This week, the children in class 4 made structures based on the playground equipment at Chester-Le-Street Park. They used recycled materials to create swings, slides, roundabouts and climbing frames.
Class 4 enjoyed taking part in lots of different reading activities during our guided reading session this week. In groups, they read books, played phonics games, made words using phase 3 sounds, read tricky words and used them in sentences, and had fun using reading apps on the iPads.
The children in class 4 did brilliantly in their ‘Farmer Duck’ assembly today, which was all about working together and being a team. We know how important it is to help and care for one another.
The children all worked very hard to learn their lines. Well done, everyone!
Class 4 had a great time on their trip to Chester-Le-Street Park on Wednesday. The children enjoyed exploring the different structures and mechanisms found in the park. They also looked at the materials that each piece of equipment was made from.
Thankfully, the weather was nice and the children had lots of fun playing on the equipment.
In RE this week we talked about our school badge and how it shows people that we are part of our school. We discussed other groups that we are part of such as our families, our friendship groups, and any after school clubs we go to. The children then designed their own badges to show the different communities that they belong to.
The children in class 4 have settled into year 1 brilliantly! They have been learning all about Autumn this week and looked at a range of items that we find in Autumn, such as acorns and conkers, then painted some wonderful Autumn pictures for our display.
