World Book Day 📖📚

We have had so much fun this week celebrating World Book Day! Our theme was magic so we came to school dressed up as something magical! We also had an amazing surprise from a magician!!

At the beginning of the week we read The Magic Porridge Pot and then made our own magic porridge pots, later on the week we read The Magical Muddle and created story boards for our own magical story 💫🌟

 

On World Book Day we looked at all the various books we had read over the last term and discussed our favourites and why we liked them. We also talked about books we read at home and why we like those. We then created a book cover of our favourite book and wrote about why it’s our favourite.

In Class 2 we have been discovering all about St Valentine.

We then thought about people in our lives who were special to us and why.
We made some beautiful hearts and some amazing writing 💗

A Mysterious Egg 🥚

This week we found an egg left in our classroom, who left it? What is inside it? How do we take care of it?
Straight away the children knew it was a dinosaur egg, but what type? The ideas the children had were amazing.

“I think it’s a brontosaurus so we need to give him leaves when he hatches.”  Maja 
“We need a Paleontologist to help us, they know everything.” Amelia 

”We can’t touch him as he’s a baby, he will be scared.” – Duncan 

” I think he’s going to be a triceratops with long horns to fight a T-Rex.” – Max 

Class 2 then came up with their own instructions on how we can care for it.
We are on day 3 and the egg has begun hatching.

We then made our our paper plate dinosaurs 🦕 🦖

We are Paleontologists 🦕🦖

This week we found two pet dinosaurs in our classroom with a letter, the letter was from the giant T-Rex who visited our classroom last week. He asked if we could take care of his friends but wanted us to do our research on dinosaurs first so we knew everything about our new pets.
After watching some videos and looking at dinosaur books we found out so many incredible facts and now lots of us want to be Paleontologists when we grow up!!

 

 

Dinosaurs Love Underpants

This week we found some strange, giant underpants in our classroom but we had no idea whose they were. The children used their amazing imagination and came up with ideas such as a giant, a brachiosaurus, triceratops, a skeleton zombie, an alien, and many more.

After reading the story ‘Dinosaurs Love Underpants’ we came to the conclusion it was a T-Rex. The children wrote some amazing sentences based on the underpants. And then we watched the CCTV back and found the culprit!!

 

Chinese New Year

This week Class 2 have been learning all about Chinese New Year.
We enjoyed trying Chinese food, making lanterns and Chinese dragons.
We also looked at China on a map and loved talking about similarities and differences to their New Year and ours.

Creature in the Box

We discovered a mysterious box in our classroom with a care letter describing how to look after the box! We came up with lots of amazing ideas of what we thought was in the box. The children thought it could be a snappy crocodile, giant T-Rex and many more amazing ideas!

 

After doing lots of fantastic writing based on what we thought was in the box we released the creature and found a huge triceratops!
