Class 1 Archive 2023 24

This week Class 1 had a visit from the local nurses.  The nurses spoke to us about why we need to wash our hands and the best way to do this.

We listened to a story from Duggee about washing our hands before we make food, we know that we need to wash our hands to ensure we do not have germs on our hands.  We also listened to the nurses explain about other times that we should wash our hands such as;

• After playing outside
• Getting muddy
• After going to the toilet
• When we cough or sneeze

Class 1 did an amazing job during the nurses visit and we know that we must wash our hands for 20 seconds, we have even practised a song to sing whilst we do this!

This week Class 1 have enjoyed reading Supertato! The children have worked hard to remember important parts of the story including the characters that they saw.

Class 1 did well listening to the vegetable names and could hear some initial sounds such as; c, p, m, s, p.

Class 1 then designed their own Super Vegetables! They all look fantastic!

This week in Class 1 the children have been working hard on their Phonics and Maths work.

We have been learning all about the number 1, we know that it is all by itself and has nothing next to it.  We made ourselves some number 1 posters to remember what it looks like.

We have also looked at some new sounds in Phonics they are; i, n, m and d.  We had a challenge to hear the initial sounds of words then find the correct sound to match it to!

We can not wait to continue our learning next week!

Today the children in Class 1 had their second assembly. The children have been reading and learning all about the story Stick Man and today they retold the story for their grown-ups and the children in our school. They did a fantastic job, well done Class 1!

On Thursday the children in Reception went on an Autumn walk around Simonside. They looked out for different signs on the road as well as signs of Autumn. The children walked past the shops, they visited Simonside Church yard and even saw the metro. We had a wonderful morning!

The children have had so much fun on a super sound hunt this week!

We did a different kind of PE lesson today. We worked on our gross motor skills using our trim trail. Some of us even managed to get all the way along the monkey bars!
