The children have had a very busy week making lots of different firework pictures and talking about how to keep safe. They have also been finding out about Diwali and have had a go at making Rangoli patterns and Mehndi designs on hands.

We have enjoyed lots of Halloween activities this week.
We have dressed up as witches and wizards to make magic potions.
We have decorated pumpkin shapes.
We have tried to use tweezers to catch spiders caught in a web.
We have used scissors to cut art straws to make our own skeletons.
We have drawn around our hands and cut them out to make ghosts.
The 30 hour children have made up their own games too.
They had to move their characters around and count the squares, then their character was able to eat a ‘biscuit’ if it landed on one.
They then made a track for the large wheels to roll down. If it came off you had to start again.
What fantastic teamwork!
The 2 year old children have been continuing to learn all about their senses. This week they have been learning about taste, and that their tongue has something funny called ‘taste buds’ on it.
The 30 hour children have been completing challenges this week to work together to make different types of transport. They made a boat, complete with sea and fish…
They then made a car. Harper even added ‘lights’, and they drew a road.
Challenges complete!
The 30 hour children have been very busy learning about different countries around the world. They have been finding out about where they are and who lives there. They have also been trying to think of how they could travel there.
They have also made their own ‘find the country’ game!
The 2 year old children have been using their sense of smell this week to smell some nice and ‘not so nice’ smells. They have been smelling orange, lemon, chocolate, soap, vinegar, curry, lavender, roses along with others.
The 2 year old children have made their own ‘listening ears’ to help them to hear different sounds around them. They enjoyed trying to figure out what sounds they could hear indoors and outside.
The 30 hour children have been finding out more about the world. They have looked at maps of the world, finding the different countries that they are learning about and are making their own as a group, adding their own labels too.
The 2 year old children have been learning all about sight this week.
They have explored binoculars and made their own, looked how things change through coloured gels and used a torch to light up the area. Some of the children even found a dinosaur!
The 2 year old children have been painting self portraits onto paper plates.
They have been checking in the mirror to see what colour hair and eyes they have. I am very impressed with their pictures.
The children in the 30 hour room are thinking about people from other cultures, they have started to find out about Japan and decided to make a collage picture. They have worked together as a group to produce a fantastic piece of work.
We have had a very busy first few days in Nursery, we have made lots of new friends and the older children have been helping to show the new children how to look after the toys, how to line up smartly and more importantly, how to have lots of fun.
