In Geography, our Year 1 geographers have been busy exploring where our school is located and looking at our local area from a whole new perspective.
We kicked off our topic by looking at aerial photographs (views from high up in the sky!) to spot our school building, the playground, and the surrounding streets. The children loved seeing how familiar places look from above. Using what they observed, everyone had a go at drawing their very own maps of the school and its grounds, adding key details like the main building, car park and paths.
We have also been learning the difference between two main types of geographical features.
The children did a fantastic job spotting and sorting both types of features around our school grounds!
