Earlier this week, Reception had a fantastic day exploring Hardwick Park.🌲

Our morning began with a ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ inspired adventure, where the children searched for all of the different foods from the story before posting them into the caterpillar’s special postbox for him to enjoy. 🐛 📮

We then became artists, creating beautiful symmetrical butterfly wing prints using natural materials. The children carefully arranged leaves, flowers and plants before hammering them onto the material to reveal some amazing colourful patterns. 🦋 🌼

Next, we headed into the meadow with nets to see what creatures we could discover. The children were so excited to spot butterflies, beautiful blue dragonflies and even some tiny frogs hiding amongst the grass! 🐸

Then we enjoyed everyone’s favourite part of the day… packed lunch time! Afterwards, the children had some well-deserved fun in the play park.

In the afternoon, we received a mysterious message in a bottle from some pirates! 🏴‍☠️ The children worked together to complete a series of pirate challenges, including building their own boats using natural materials, testing their strength on the log bucket pulley, walking the plank, aiming cannonballs into the treasure chest and transporting water to repair a leaking pirate ship. Everyone showed fantastic teamwork, determination and resilience throughout the challenges.

To finish the day, we explored the area hunting for minibeasts. 🐜

We were incredibly proud of how well the children represented our school throughout the day. They listened carefully, showed kindness towards one another, embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and made the most of every exciting activity.

It was a wonderful day full of adventure, exploration and unforgettable memories! 💜 🦉
