Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?

This week we have been reading ‘Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?’. As a class we created our own story map, we re told the story, we used adjectives to describe the animals and then we had a go at writing a sentence about one of the animals. Some of the children wrote ‘The polar bear is scary’. We are trying to remember to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

Dear Santa…

This week in Class 2 we have been writing letters to Santa. We made our own Christmas list to send off to Santa.

The children were very good at carefully sounding out the words.

Superkid!

This week Class 2 have been reading Superkid. We created our own story map, completed some shared writing and then had a go at creating our own superhero and labeling him.

It was also Class 2’s assembly this week – this was also on Superkid! Class 2 were amazing. They put on an excellent show with lovely loud, clear voices. Well done!

Wonderful Writing!

Class 2 have been sounding out CVC words and having a go at writing them! We remembered to use our letter rhymes to help us with our letter formation.

Rhyming!

This week Class 2 have been rhyming! We have been matching rhyming cards and having a go at writing the words and we have also been building rhyming towers! We are very good at rhyming now, ask us at home if we can rhyme any words.

Supertato To the Rescue!

Last week class 2 planned how they would like to make their Supertato – this week we made them. The children thought about what resources they would need, what colours they needed and how they were going to put them together. Look how amazing they are!

Water Fun

In Class 2 we are learning how to sound out and blend three lettered words, i.e. cat or pin. This week we went outside and used water tubes to squirt the sounds as we sounded them out.

2D Shapes!

This week in Class 2 we have been learning all about 2D shapes. We have learnt the names of the shapes and also how to describe them. We know that a square has 4 sides and 4 corners, and a triangle has 3 sides and 3 corners.
We also created our own patterns using 2D shapes, we were extremely good at this!
We looked around our classroom and school for shapes we could find, we could see shapes everywhere!

People Who Help Us

This week Class 2 had a very special visitor – as we have been learning about People Who Help Us, the police came in to our school to tell us all about what they do. We were very excited and learnt so much. We know the police aren’t scary and that they are there to help and look after us.
